I ride my bike very often. Nearly daily to work which is just a 10-12
mile round trip. Recently I noticed a sharp pain in my [censored]. Today on
the ride in there was a dull pain in my ass. Like, almost as if in my
    rectum.
I know this sounds kind of gross and all but has anyone else here
expereinced anything like this? a friend of mine says that it is from
riding too much? "too much"? 10-12 miles a day during the week? Plus I
didn't ride at from thursday last week until today because of the long
weekend and some other things. Would a short layoff cause this to
suddenly appear? Does any of this make any sense?

Apparently posting to usenet has a therapuetic effect. Pain in nether
regions way down since I posted yesterday. Is weird. The old man had
some prostate troubles but I am way to young and healthy for that [censored],
I hope. I'll bring it up at the next doctor's vistit though. I did some
research and there appears to be a burgeoing body of research on the
effects on men from too much time in the saddle.

Mine started when I was 28, and bike riding seems thb the prime suspect.

I guess I will play the sucker and comment on this with the proper
words. It is not male or female specific as far as I can tell since I
get a bit of saddle soreness in the upper thighs and sit spot where they
make contact with the saddle. I thought this would go away with many
more miles of riding but it hasn't even after thousands of miles of
riding. Since I am not playing TdF training, I just get off about every
15-20 miles and take a drink and maybe eat something out of my back
pack. After the blood gets going and I walk around a bit things feel
better and I keep riding. If you think you are too young and bullet
proof, think again. I did, and at 57 (which I never thought I would make
it to) those things will come back and bite you in the ass. Maybe it is
a rite of passage, but I have a story to go with every scar I have,
though if riding and doing other things more carefully, I would just be
57 and not have those memories. The way I ride now scares my wife and
even the grandkids think I am nuts, but I am having fun.

  4. I really have nothing to add. You said it all so eloquently.

I never submitted the whole system of my
opinions to the creed of any party of men
whatever in religion, in philosophy, in
politics, or in anything else where I was
capable of thinking for myself. Such an
addiction is the last degradation of a free
    and moral agent.
