I used readfree for a long time, then it stopped letting me connect - probably not free any more - which is why I ended up a NIN in the first place. I'd give it a try and see though - it had wayyy more groups than individual, IIRC. I'm staying with the pay service because I've been chasing free servers for ages and I'm tired of it. The ISP's I've used had NNTP that never seemed to get a fraction of the posts.
