Well, Carol, you already got my response <G>. And, it may sound
pretty grim now, and it won't be much fun for Crash, but once he gets
healed and gets the therapy over - watch out! You're gonna have
    trouble keeping up with him.

He's pretty scared right now, but from real people's accounts, it
really shouldn't be all that bad. It sounds terrible, and he'll be in
the hospital for about 5 days, but he'll be up and walking the day
    after surgery.

    Carol

When I had my left hip replaced, the surgery took place early in the
morning. I was sitting up in bed a couple of hours later and when the
nurse came around late in the afternoon, she told me to try and take a
few steps. I was walking with a walker and then with a cane the next
day and I walked out of the hospital with the same cane four days
after the operation, with only Marcel helping me into the taxi.

The pain was not bad at any time and all I ever needed were a couple
of Tylenol tablets. I did need a special high chair or stool on which
to sit at home and a special seat for the toilet, to make it higher.
All the large pharmacies have these stools/chairs for rent in New York
and the special toilet seat extension and cane were handed out to each
patient at the hospital, who had this kind of surgery. I wish Crash
the same kind of hospital stay and recovery once he is home.

I know that I am not the only poster at rfc who had this operation and
the others will probably tell you something similar. Please, tell
Crash not to be scared, that he will be fine a few months from now.

Good luck to both of you, M

    Oh my! Wow!

Dams, you can count on our prayers!

Isn't modern medicine amazing? Wow, to be able to walk the next day... !!
Medicine constantly amazes me - yet they can't stop a cold! LOL

Hugs to you and Crash! Please tell him that we're pulling for him.
