Quoted message said:I am looking for an ONLINE cookbook for bachelors. I stress the word
ONLINE. I dont want links to Amazon to buy books. I also do not want
to be referred to Diet books, in other words, no Atkins, no Low Fat,
none of that stuff. I am not dieting, in fact I am BELOW the weight I
should be for my build, age, and height, and that is because my meals
consist of opening a can of something and eating it (warming
optional). or eating popcorn. After several years of eating this way,
I am aware its starting to affect my health, not to mention I am
totally bored with canned food.OK, here's the scoop. What I want, is either a website full of
recipes or downloadable cookbook. I do not want costly recipes, nor
complicated. No caviar, no virgin olive oils (unless her name is
Olive and she is an available virgin), and please, none of those fancy
words that only those tv chefs know the meaning.First, I am low income and on a tight budget. Second, I do not have a
stove and oven, just a microwave, hotplate, and toaster oven. Third,
I do not buy fresh foods because all they do is rot in my
refrigerator. My basic food stock consists of canned foods, dry stuff
(noodles and rice, and instand mashed pots), powdered milk, and a few
frozen things that got buried in snow inside the small freezer on the
top pof my fridge. The other thing, I hate washing dishes, so cooking
needs to be done with minimal dishes, paper plates preferred. The
other thing, by the time I get around to making something to eat, I am
usually so darn hungry that I often open the can, and while I planned
to warm the contents, I just eat it, or I open the can, take one bite,
and drive to McDonalds. In other words, 10 minutes is about the max
amount of time I am willing to spend slaving over a hot microwave or
hotplate. The KEY WORDS for my cooking would be FAST, CHEAP, and EASY.
I am only cooking for myself.I should mention that I grew up in the 50's, when men were not allowed
to take HomeEc in highschool, mom never let me touch the kitchen
stove, and I had a woman cook for me until I became a bachelor about 5
years ago. I have no concept of cooking, or how to go about it. I
also am not willing to chop up a dead chicken or any of that sort of
thing, that is just too nasty....Now that you know where I am coming from, and my intent.
Can anyone recommend a website to suit my needs?
I can tell you where to _find_ one. Go to Google advanced search. Search
on the phrase "student food." This brings up about 879 websites, and the
first few look like they're about cooking for people who are presumed to
have _no_ kitchen knowledge. (Most Google searches seem to bring up at
least one rock band and/or at least one computer program.)
To give some idea of how little cooking knowledge students are expected to
have: Most cookbooks for college students are simpler than the ones for
children.
