I weighed in this morning at 285. Not as bad as I thought! I may be down a
little today due to water or whatever.

I walked 150 miles after breakfast. I am going to have to measure that
distance with my car or something because I may be just a little off. I did
stop at Taco Bell about 1/2-way through that walk, but I only had a diet
    soda :~)

That's one heck of a walk!

I bought a scale. Unfortunately, a [censored] little $4 scale was all I could
find, but it is a scale none-the-less.

Mine was $6.95. Chung has some that cost only $1.

If I know one thing for sure, I know
that I have to not eat so much food. I really do eat a lot. So, I'm going to
start with the two pound diet. If it works for me, that's great. If it
doesn't, at least I will be eating a lot less food.

Win-win but be sure to follow the simple rules.

So far today I have eaten a pound of food. Wow. A pound of food really isn't
    all that much!

One day it will look like a heck of a lot more.

I have set three short term goals for myself:

    1) Significantly decrease my food intake. I eat a LOT of food. Specifically:
figure out how much I eat by weighing my food, and then reduce the portions
and frequency of my eating until I am down to two pounds of food a day.

    Slow but sure.

    2) Lose 15 pounds by the end of the year. That is about 2lb/week and I think
    its a reasonable goal.

Reasonable, think in terms of losing per week or per month.

    3) Be a person who walks every day. More specifically, I am thinking that
five miles/day is a reasonable goal but I'll have to wait and see how that
    goes.

At 285, 5 miles even on flat ground is a hump.

Fwiw, I started at over 200 lbs, lost 50 of fat (est), added 15 of
muscle (est) and my walking regimen was 30 minutes at zero incline
(treadmill) approximately 2 miles. As my weight declined, I moved to a
walk, jog, sprint, repeat for 45 minutes which is where I am today. 3
Miles give or take at a 5.5 degree incline.

I was eating about 5-6 pounds per day and thought, honest to God, that
was what I needed to sustain a very active lifestyle (umpiring,
strength trainer, business, etc). Cut a half pound off per week and
immediately saw weight loss at approximately 2 pounds per week. I hit
maintenance in, oh say around four months or so and have remained
there for a year and a half. My appetite decreased, I proved to myself
that a very active individual can sustain themselves quite nicely on
approximately two pounds of food per week.

Also, using an Ounce Of Common Sense, and for health reasons, I
reduced sat and trans fats significantly (further reducing a once
calorie dense diet even more), upped my water intake and rearranged my
lifting schedule to address more hypertrophy for a time. Now back to a
variety of movement based exercises including explosive lifting.

    Wish me luck!
