    1) It's true that many common fruits and vegetables do have less
nutritive value (at least in some nutrients) than they did, say,
100 years ago. But this is NOT due to "soil depletion", at least
not in the US or Canada -

A myth put forth by organized medicine.

Firstly, _Dr_ Wallach is a Doctor of Chiropractic. Has Chiropractic become
    part of "EOM"?

Secondly, Mr Wallach has cited some clearly ridiculous statistics throughout
his magnum opus, _Dead Doctors Don't Lie_ (Apparently living ones, particularly
this Dr of Chiropractic, do tell lies)> Case in point, the LIE about the
average MD in the USA living to 58. (In fairness he may have gotten that
    citation from the 1920's.)

Thirdly, Dr's Wright and Orac have refuted the nonsense about soil depletion.
It, like the colon cleansing & Auto-toxicity dogma of alt-med, is strickly a
matter of belief. Faced withf testable, incontrovertable facts, only true
faith can cling to such out-dated doctrine.

If one were really concerned about over farming, perhaps they should lobby
governments to stop businesses from growing useless crops and trying to promote
    them as essential herbs.

I have made a mistake in this post. I improperly identified Dr Wallace as a
Doctor of Chiropractic. This is incorrect, he is a DVM, or a Veteranarian. I
apologize for posting that in error and for the unfavorable association of his
    behavior vis-a-vis Chiropractic.

I recall reading that he did it by going through JAMA (maybe more than
one issue) and averaging the lifespans of anyone whose obituary
    appeared there. Very scientific.
