Chaps & Chappettes

Thanks. After extensive testing I have got the saddle at the best heigh
& angle I can. Still numbing out but not too badly and the best piece o
advice was to get up on your toes for a few revolutions when th
sensation first starts. I am due to whizz off to the LBS for a servic
soon and I will look at getting a harder saddle. The 'comfort' saddle
have obviously isn't. So going down the hard route seems an idea, I'l
try but I doubt I will be able to do extensive testing before buying s
I'm going to see what is available and take a risk. I'm also thinking o
ditching the bouncy seatpost aswell. I have played around with it but a
yet to feel any benefit over rough ground so I think it may just b
compunding the problem

Stand by for future update

You'll get lots of recommendations for saddles here.
My tuppence worth - try a Specialized Body Geometry.

Someone else will come up with the link, but there was mention
on the group of a shop who will loan you a selection of saddles?

Try a Brooks. Yes, I know they look old fashioned. Try one that's the
right width for your sit-bones (the different models are essentially
different widths). Saddles are, of course, personal, and some people
don't get on with them, but look at what's on the bikes of experienced
cyclists who regularly ride long distances, and you'll see a lot of
Brooks.

Have a look at gearshift.co.uk (you may have to phone them)... I think
they offer a 'box of saddles' that they'll ship to you, for a
deposit+small fee, you try them, ship them back, and I *think* you get a
discount/fee refunded if you then buy a saddle from them.

Think they're affiliated with the CTC, others may know for sure if I've
got the right people.
