I'm somewhat of a hard gainer and I'm looking to bulk up. Anyone know
any websites I can go to that show me the proper things I should be
eating and things like that? I'm a bit of a picky eater, so tuna and
stuff like that isn't really an option.

Imagine the coincidence, a hardgainer who also happens not to like many
foods. Too bad about your genetics.

Money is a bit of an issue
too, as I'm currently in university up to my ass in student loans.

So it has to be cheap but also delectable protein that isn't canned
tuna? How do you feel about eggs?

Also, if anyone has any general advice on foods to be eating, how often
to eat, etc. in order to gain the extra weight I want, I'd be happy to
    read that too.

    You won't like the answer.

I'd appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.

I doubt it. But welcome anyway.

Well, I used to be in the same situation - scrawny as a stick,
didn't really like food (still don't), couldn't do a single pullup,
no endurance etc. I had persistence in my training but I never
believed eating more than I want (or multiple times a day in
    general) is necessary or healthy.

You've certainly made progress 🙂. I took a look at the video of
yourself you posted earlier and was impressed. What the heck do you
call that exercise where you do a pull up and then just keep on going?

    Quoted message said:

I still wouldn't shove food unless I want to eat - which happens in
the evening after my daily training - partly due to tradition. You
    know, social stuff.

Are you saying that you only eat one time a day? If so, that's
    amazing.

But I gained considerable strength and muscle over the years.

Rest assured I collected all kinds of literature in support and
    justification of what I'm doing.

I have read quite a bit of the research that you have posted. Very
interesting stuff. Still its awfully hard to gain weight without
having a surplus of calories. Heck, even in your case it's not like
you are really that big. You are lean, and freakishly strong, but not
that big. Have you ever actually tried eating big?

    Quoted message said:

So, in a nutshell, you're wrong, Delenn 🙂

    I wouldn't go that far...

Training is more important. Take your food shortly after exercise.

    There.

Training is certainly important, but I still contend that it is hard
to gain weight without increasing your calorie intake.

Well I've been told in this group it's "muscle-ups" but they've
likely been trolling me. I hesitate to tell the name of it when
asked in person because then I often get this look like I'm fresh
    from a Siberian nuthouse.

No one that has seen you do one of those monsters is likely to mock
you about it. They look seriously cool.

That's my point - why would I try eating big?

An excellent point too ... 🙂.

    Quoted message said:

Pigging/cutting cycles and eating like it's your second job are not
the only option. Besides I don't train to gain any more weight - my
training is more an interval type - I do whole body workouts
    alternating sets of different exercises.

I tend to agree with you. I don't spend my entire day eating either.
I did, however, find that my performance went up considerably when I
cleaned up my diet. For me "cleaning up my diet" included eating more
regularly (I used to skip breakfast). Now I eat at least three times
a day, and making sure I got at least 160 g of protein a day.

Tuna fish has become one of the staples of my diet 🙂.

    Quoted message said:

Just how much muscle can you gain in a day? (very little). The
allegedly hardgaining person is not at the caloric deficit,
allegedly 🙂 Otherwise he'd be losing weight. I'd try to change the
composition of the diet and arrange eating protein-rich food around
    the time of exercise.

Even if you are an "easy gainer" (or whatever they call them) you can
only add so much muscle per day. However, if you have been working
out, you are already lean, and you aren't gaining weight, then you
need to look to your diet. That's probably going to include an
increase in your protein intake. Tuna fish is an excellent way to get
the extra protein without breaking the bank.
