  1. John,

I went back and looked at the pics again ,looks like you have a 3x7 rear
    hub?
I was trying to see if there was any thing out of the ordinary with the
trike, but of course it looks fine.
I did own an Organic Engines Triclops trike and noticed that it was slower
up hills and into a headwind, but downhill or with the wind at my back it
was as fast as a two wheeler. Also on rough roads or rock the extra front
wheel was noticable as it was harder to pedal the trike .
On smooth roads though, the trike was no harder to pedal than a 2 wheeler and
    was acually pretty fast.
This trike weighed about 42 lbs not counting water and tools ect.
I guess my point is ,your trike should not be as hard to pedal as you say it
    is.
I am assuming ,since you own other bikes that you are in pretty good riding
    condition
so that leaves the trike as the problem.
Is it hard to push by hand, on smooth level ground? It should move with
    hardly any effort.
If not raise one side at a time and spin wheel. I'm wondering if one or both
of the front drum brake shoes are dragging or maybe the wheel bearings are
    dry from setting.
prop the rear end up and crank the pedals ,see if the rear wheel continues
    to turn for awhile.
Last thing is to take a measure ment between the front wheels at at the same
distance from the floor -first the front and then the rear ,should be the
same. Make sure you measure front and back at exactly the same distance from
the floor as the wheels at an angle top to bottom.
    One more thing,
if you have a biker friend or kids in area who bike a lot,let one of them
try it to see if they think it's excessively hard to pedal.

    Hello,
Today I had my first ride on my Pashley PDQ 3 recumbent trike.
How was it? - Hard work. Why did no one person tell me it would not be an
easy job? Its slow-on the flat. Its hard peddeling. What am I doing wrong?
Am I not suited to a recumbent? Does it get easier? Do I get tougher?
    Please someone tell me how!
    Best regards,
John........PS The pictures are showing in the My Bikes section at.....
