Just checked the website, we came 500th overall, out of 624! Within the
category (Sport Men) we came 226th out of 248. Well done us! Is this
the best result a unicycle team has got so far?
It was a good weekend, even though there were so few of us and everyone
was struggling with quite a difficult track, the first half especially!
Rob did really well doing the most laps, and Liams time of one hour
thrity four minutes was incredibly impressive! I still don't understand
how it was possible, especially as it was his first lap, in the dark,
and pouring rain!
The mud was impressive, and the course immense. I spent alot of my lap
diving into ferns to get out of the way of the speedy bikes, but some
of the track I was accompanied by bikers struggling to carry their
bikes through the mud on an incredibly steep camber too narrow for
overtaking and too tricky for most to ride.
I had an annoying fall where i landed with all my weight on my elbow
that landed on my pedal, I now have an impressive bruise and two
distinct cuts from the metal studs - I never thought I'd get a pedal
bite on my elbow!
Overall, good fun, annoying weather (although it did clear up right at
the end making the last few laps much more enjoyable apparently!), and
we got lots of respect from the bikers (even the woman that lapped me
three times during my lap...).
Might get some photos online soon if I find some good ones.
I'm glad I came along as a last minute reserve, apologies for wussing
out of a second lap, but hopefully I'll come more prepared next year!

It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end.
Be who you are and say what you feel, as those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind.
