    Hi,

I really want a new 1 man lightweight bivvy/tent for this summer but
being a student I am finding myself rather skint and not able to afford
the £100ish for a decent one.

However as a student I am 'time rich' and was thinking about designing
    and sewing my own.

Have any of you guys/gals ever tried this? - how did you get on?

Do you know of any suppliers where I could get some lightweight 'tenty'
    material?

My brother made his own one, two and three man tents using material bought
direct from mills in the north and sewn by his fair hand. He wanted them to
be light so he made ones that would be supported by walking poles. Basic
design was a ridge tent with fly and inside - I suspect the patterns may be
on the web someplace. I have slept in it in quite bad conditions and it
stood up to it. I kept trying to persuade him to sell the design but then
Mounatain Hardwear came out with a similiar one and he didnt worry.

    Rob
