Also, though the framebuilder I suggested is reasonable, I don't think he'll be 1/3rd the cost of the norm, so if you do call him you may want to discuss price right out of the gate so you don't waste your time if he's too high. That said, not having any special ins myself, I thought the price for the frame he was to build me was quite reasonable.
But Dan, she would have to pay for international shipping, since she is in Asia. Surely, there is a frame builder in Asia she can find. Maybe if she asked in the frame builder's newsgroup she would have better luck?

I figured the same, which is why I didn't do the legwork to hunt down his info and such. I just figured I'd throw it out there as a last resort type thing. The framebuilders group is a good idea, hopefully she finds what she needs there.

I was amazed at how cheap I was going to get the frame I thought I was going to get. I expect to get a normal price when going through normal channels.

Cause yes, the international shipping is the kicker. Another $200 in shipping (if I want it to arrive in under 8 weeks) plus possible import taxes of up to 15% if the customs agent feels like it means that I really don't want something made in USA and don't particularly want something made in Europe.
