    First-time poster...

I've recently developed an arthritis-type condition. Sucks badly seeing
as I'm still on the right side of 30 but life goes on. In my case, it's
mostly affecting my hip joints and lately my left ankle has been
killing me in the morning. Last week or two, it's been difficult to do
any activity that involves running because of the ankle. I've found
that if I cycle though, the hips and ankle actually feels almost normal
for at least half a day. I'm trying to put in short sessions of around
20km as often as I can but between the weather, number of hours in a
day and how my body feels at the time, it's sometimes hard to get out
    on the road.

Started thinking about getting an indoor trainer. Yes, I've heard all
the usual negatives about it being boring and not the same as being on
the road but if it will help me get in 30 minutes a day on the bike,
that's a positive for my joints.

Anyone here have a trainer they're interested in getting rid of?
Otherwise I'll have to look at getting one new - a few sub-$300 models
    in mind.

I'm not selling mine, but if you do want to get a new one, have a look
    over this :

Cycle Science in Mitcham has a good selection of them.

Good article, thanks. I've noticed those rim-drive jobs in the shops, and
thought they'd be fiddly and more likely to go wrong.
