  1. I own a Brunton 1202. You can see its accuracy by displaying "STEPS"
mode while walking. It will count steps along with you. It also has
miles (or km), calories, time, walking time, etc. See
    http://www.backcountry-equipment.com/accessrs/a-nav_measure/brunton-ped-dig.html
for more details. The cost from the supplier above is $20 including
    shipping.

    Two caveats:

    (1) It uses two batteries instead of one, which makes it a bit more
expensive to use. But I have used mine daily for over a year and have
    never touched the batteries.

    (2) The time-of-day clock gains or loses several minutes a month. So
the clock is less accurate than the other functions on the pedometer.

But overall, I am very happy with the pedometer, especially with its
    accuracy.

I am not connected with the Brunton Company or with Backcountry
    Equipment. Just a satisfied customer.

Gary, thanks for the info. I may still buy one just to play with.

It's all relative. If the clock is losing time, slow down , you're walking
    too fast.
If the clock gains time, turn around and go the other way.

    :-)
