I saw a Red LeCreuset 7 1/4 qt. round dutch oven today for $130 (normally $220) and I was going to buy it. It was labeled "seconds" by LeCreuset and did not come in a box. Other than a very slight flat spot on the otherwise round edge of the lid, I could see no other imperfection. Does anyone know what they mean by "seconds"? Slight imperfection I assume. If it's that I am going out later to pick it up as it seems a good bargain.
I have two of their seconds which turned out to be about 40% of the regular retail price when I bought them at the discount outlet store during one of their biannual sales (before Christmas and Mother's Day). These stores have a regular "seconds" area and apply the sale discount to the blemished or discontinued merchandise also.
I can't find a blemish on one (it may have been a discontinued color) and the other has a tiny pit in the enamel which doesn't go all the way down to the iron base.
