Liver is an excellent source of it, as are many other organ meats. Red meat in general is the 2nd best source, but other health concerns might suggest not using any of the above; ask your doc. Grains, beans, and green leafy veggies are also good but take with vitamin c source to allow the iron in them to be absorbed. Cooking in iron pots can help. Try using a lower dose, after asking your doc. of the pills perscribed, or taking smaller doses several times a day. Do you take the pills with food?

Hello,
I have an iron deficit, and have been instructed to take iron pills daily. However, the pills cause stomach ache, nausea, and increase in body temperature so they are not a good solution for me.
