  1. YES.

It can be hard getting out the door.

I've used a lot of the tricks:
schedule a run with some one else
    change location/time/type of the run.
set a goal and try to reach it
bargain with myself (rewards from extra beer to sweets)
Fear (weight gain and other health issues).
    plan a race.
announcing race plans to friends and family (embarassment of not
running can be a big motivator)
keeping a running log (the missed days/ blank spaces can motivate)
    just to enjoy it.

I wish I could say the last one is my primary motivator nowadays, but
    then I'd be lying.

Just make a commitment to run your next planned session. One day at a
    time.

    Enjoy!
    Ed

Sometimes I just tell myself "If you run (or walk) today, you can take
tomorrow off", or "Just get out the door; if you still don't feel good you
can turn back at the corner." I guess that's a variation on changing the
    time/type, in a way.

These have been especially effective when I was sick, or going through
cancer treatment. Sometimes I'd go out for a modest walk; I might not feel
*better* afterwards but I never felt *worse* -- which encouraged me the next
time (the next day) I faced the same lack of enthusiasm.

One of my main motivations to do this at all is being diabetic -- I want to
keep my eyes & feet & kidneys working so I can be independent, watch TV,
    read books, etc.🙂

yeah, i tell myself that if i run a mile and it still sucks, i can stop
for the day (or cut it short, etc). of course, now that my feet are
screwed up and i can't run for awhile (posting with the ice pack pressed
to them), i just keep thinking about how much i'd like to be running
    right now...

  4. Wow, that puts things in perspective. I hope you are feeling good these
days. I like your first point because it's a great way to get yourself
out the door, and once you're out, you're probably going to keep going.
