What inspires you to run? I want to be healthy and in-shape but this
doesn't seem to be enough some days to get me out on the road. I want
to want to run, if that makes sense!

It began as walking for health. Then we found out we could cover a
lot more ground in winter with light if we jogged. After many years
of jogging the same 3.25 mi course every other day, I found and read
a "Runner's World" and decided to try a race. Which meant increasing
the run length. Found we liked racing. At the end of that year I
decided to try the marathon. I liked the challenge of running longer
and longer long runs. Oh, and running the marathon was a (tiring)
    thrill too.

After the marathon I suddenly was placing in my age group now and
then. So I started doing more focused training and the incidents
of AG placing increased. Cool. That was quite motivating. Now it's
harder to place as I'm getting near the top of my age group, which
is motivating me to train even harder. Especially since I actually
came in ahead of the fast ladies at the younger end in one recent race!

So my motivations are still 1) health benfits; 2) I like the way I
look (ie most people think I'm younger than I am😉 ;-) 3)the energy
I have. I have more energy than most of the folks I work with, and
about half are younger than I am; 4) the Racing! It's so much fun.
Yes, I do indeed have a competitive streak! I plan races out so that
I almost always have a goal race each month, except in summer. It's
    too hot here, no races.
