I was in the UK and Scotland last year. ALL were very friendly,
all had a universal dislike of Tony Blair and GWB(none I talked to
disliked 'Americans', just our leaders.). All were very well
versed in US politics and all were amazed Arnold got elected as CA
    governor.

A choral group from the church I attend vistited France, and
performed in the Luxemburg Gardens (?), near the central government
    in France.

They tell me the people were quite gracious, and all stood when they
    played the US national anthem.

So then you agree that it is not the Americans that they hate but our
government. You didn't per chance ask them what they thought of what
our government is doing did you?

What they think of the US government is largely what they've been
taught to think about the US government. Plus I have to admit what
the French think of the US government isn't an issue that keeps me up
at night. I'll bet the average American's opinion of the French
    government isn't any better.
