I decided to quit smoking and haven't had a cig since Monday. I don't even miss them but I have had the flu for the past couple of weeks. I am on the mend but this darn flu is hanging on. :-( I was able to stick with my induction and all during the flu and all. My husband ordered a new scale for us through Penney's. We had to order through catalog and probably won't get it until sometime next week. Our old one doesn't go beyond 300 lbs. Anyway, I am hoping to be able to keep up better with my weight once we have the new scale. The old one would also bounce around so that I wasn't sure what I was weighing at any given time. I have noticed that one pair of my jeans is just a bit looser. Hopefully that is a good sign.
Congrats on quitting smoking. I hope you find that it will be the best thing you ever did for yourself as I found when I quit 10 years ago.
I quit smoking almost three years ago. The trouble is that I started snacking more and packed on the weight. I hope you will avoid that- stoping smoking by itself does not lead to weight gain. Please remember that you are one cigarette away from going back to smoking with a vengence. Avoid tobacco an any form and sooner or later the cravings will go away. Just think, slimmer and smoke free!

Well, not if you start eating less when you quit, or exercising more. Smoking speeds up your metabolism. Smoking a pack is the equivalent of burning 200 calories. So to avoid gaining weight when you quit you have to create that deficit some other way. I found it too difficult, so I went ahead and gained some weight.
