    Montgolfier brothers

Are you sure you're not confusing them with Some French Chick?

As an aside, outside my optometrist's office is a plaque that marks the
spot of a large and successful 18th C. textile factory whose bourgeois
owner counted the Montgolfiers among his friends. The Montgolfiers needed
large amounts of fabric so their balloon was constructed on that site.
    Then,
they launched the first manned flight from there, making it the second
most famous French balloon flight, behind only Gambetta's escape during
the Prussian siege in order to lead the defense of Paris from someplace
safe. MacArthur would take a cue from Gambetta seven decades later when he
directed the defense of the Philippines from Australia.
