2/ The cold meds had a warning written on the back saying do not use if
you have heart disease..., (I saw this after the fact). Could they
    cause the angina?

Stayed home from work today. No chest pains but man does this sore
    throat/cold thing suck.

Yes, it's the pseudoephedrine that causes the heart warning - acts as a
    stimulant to the heart.

Sounds as though you should have acknowledged the cold/flu that morning
instead of pushing yourself to work. Since you were already sick, the
strenuous physical activity of your work would have been taxing no
matter the heat. Heat just made you feel even worse.

Can't answer any medical questions, but I think it's a wise decision to
stay at home as long as you need to - pushing oneself when sick just
makes getting better longer and more drawn out.
