Geoff: On bench and incline I like have my sets be in a pyramid. I start with a warmup. Then I do a set of 8, then add weight to do a set of 4, then add weight to do a set of two. At each level I try to do more than the alloted amount of reps and when I do I increase weight for the next workout. I am going to start doing this on my other compound lifts as well (pulldown, cleans). If you are just starting out I would recommend doing more reps and lighter weight until you are very comfortable with your form, maybe start with a 16, 12, 8 routine or higher.
