Those recipes are wrong. I saw Elvis's cook on a TV show one time preparing peanut butter n' nanner sammiches like she used to fix for Elvis and she was using way, way more than 2 tablespoons of butter. It was closer to deep frying than pan frying. Probably damn tasty, but scary.

I can confirm this: the pan was filled with butter, and the bread was fried in it. She seemed real proud of her creation.
I wonder what nickname Elvis called her when she wasn't there. I bet it was something like "Momma-Mammy". I could just see Elvis getting hungry @ 3 a.m. and saying "Hey Colonel...get Momma-Mammy over here to fix me a nanner sandwich."
