I am wondering how common injuries to the hand/fingers are, to those
whom are "everyday" cooks? I got my first nasty slice today - nothing
to stitch - just took a fairly deep layer off my left pinky. Never
injured myself to the point of needing sutures while cooking, but did
twice while I was a potter (shattered stoneware).

I have a friend who is a professional chef and he has a systemic Staph
infection from hand injuries which won't clear up. Anyone have home
remedies he might want to try? I think he's about at his wit's end.

So now I have to deal with the soggy bandaid [censored]. The things too deep
for the glue. Despite that I made some awesome scampi tonight - added
mushrooms and peppers and some jalapeno for bite. Thanks to whomever
started the "Shrimp scampi" thread. 🙂

I rarely cut myself. However, I am the queen of burns. No matter how
many potholders I am armed with I will somehow manage to burn myself. I
have a quite lovely one on my wrist currently.

I went through a burn spree abut five years ago. Three weeks in a row I
burned myself on the wrist while stir frying. I don't know why it took the
extra two burns to learn to push things into the hot wok away from me so that
splashes go the other way or are shielded.

I've actually burned my toes (!) using a stick blender to puree vegetables
in a pot of soup. The soup was a bit much for the size of the pot and that
el-cheapo $10 stick blender from Walgreen's really puts out some power!
Next time, a deeper pot and I'll wear shoes.

Must have been one thick soup if you're gonna walk on it.
