Assuming that a helmet has had no knocks or other damage, how often should it be replaced?
Typically every three or four years. Polystyrene get brittle with age. It's usually in the small print of the leaflet that comes with the helmet, along with the bit that says it won't actually protect you in 'some reasonably foreseeable accidents', as the leaflet for my MET helmet puts it.
