Would you mind sharing with us what your basal rates are?Randy
My basals are 12 a.m. 3 and at 5pm 3.5/
We have worked on this a long time and my HgbAiC was 6.1 yesterday.
I use 2.5 units for a bolus per 10 carbs.
I eat less than 900 calories usually sometimes 1200 tops. I know this
for sure because I drink Glucerna for my meals or Spiruten. I eat
very little solid foods.
The Glucerna is around 200 cals and I have three per day and then an
apple before I go to bed. Not exciting but it works. I do wish I
could have real food once in a while but it doesn't work out.Hi Zbrigid,
That's a hefty amount of insulin. Moreover, that's an unusually low
calorie diet.
It is not too low and Glucerna provides all you need in the way of
food.
I can't believe what I can gain if I eat regular food. It is
terrible.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I have type 2, or even type 1-1/2, so my
knowledge of what's best for you may not be great. I would like to
suggest, if you've not already done so, some fasting periods to
confirm whether or not those basals are appropriate.
I have done this basically when I had an upper and lower GI. It was
right on and couldn't have been better.

There is a wide variety from which to choose these days, and your
I have tried every new drug that comes out and either they don't work
or make me very ill, i.e., Glucophage and Glucophage XR. Those two
earned me a couple of nights sleepover in the hospital.
No fun. We are still trying for some answers. I have just been given
two more tests.
