Repbublicans are 180 degrees from what they used to be. What a bunch of spenders. And China holds a major piece of the debt. What a turn in history this is....

Everyone knows the U.S. peaked as a country between 1965 and 1970.
Nonsense. There are _many_ who believe it happened a year or so earlier.
But it is important to realize we are talking about veryy brief periods of history here, transitory snapshots essentially. The last 40 years may ultimately be regarded as an embarrassing footnote to primitive human history, if the period is noticed at all. Our greatest hope, as individuals, is that the world when we leave it has made some tiny progress toward a civilized human culture, and that we've done what we could with the talents and opportunities we had.
