It is called the ForeRunner 101, it uses AAAs, is a tad cheaper and a
tad thicker and it does not sync to a computer.
The batteries in the 201 are not replaceable so having to buy a
nonstandard battery really isn't a problem.
For what it is worth no item that you train with is going to last long
enough to still be working when the new and better device is released.
The upside of the 201 is that you can upgrade the firmware via your
computer (not possible with 101) but you have to drag that wall wart
charger with you if you will be running a total of more than 14 hours.

the end, I will be screwed because the devices are usually
intentionally built to ruin their batteries to force me to buy more of
them, at inflated prices (why else would them make them nonstandard).So, I would like to buy something like garmin forerunner, but that
