Melba's Jammin said:I attended the memorial service of an longtime and elderly friend
yesterday afternoon. He was 91 years old when he joined the celestial
choir last Sunday morning. The lunch was catered by Byerly's (upscale
supermarket chain in town) and consisted of some wrap sandwiches (
roast beast in some, some sort of salad in the other), potato salad,
a relish tray, and bars; coffee and punch. Good enough. Better than
the lame turkey and ham sandwiches that I've been eating most
recently at other funeral lunches I've partaken of.I'll regret for a very long time that I hadn't seen this fine, fine
gentleman in too many years. He and his wife (she's 90) are the
parents of friends. For the last year and a half I've told myself I
needed to visit them while I could. I didn't get around to it.
Rest in peace, Bob. Thanks for the gift of love.(Note to Row-behr-to: Wrap sandwiches would be passable; ixnay on the
ham and turkey. Proper Pirohy preferred.)
I'm sorry you didn't get to see your friend's father before he died. I know
you're kicking yourself but don't.
