I wish I'd listened to Arthur Clune four or five years ago when I was
dithering over the purchase of a turbo trainer. It just wasn't for me and
I've probably had more exercise from shifting it around the house than I've
had from using it as intended. All in all I think it's been used less than
    a
dozen times in total by me and my two sons. Two of us prefer riding out
bikes on the road in winter the other one now prefers to read about riding
    bikes in the winter ;-)

I *loathe* using a turbo. Until now... Discovered the joys of an Elite Real
Axiom one. Hooked up to the computer I can have various courses playing on
the computer screen with 'real' images. Or I can have course profiles done,
or make my pwn courses. I have discovered that having those displays showing
cadence, power, calories used, distance covered, time, speed, and graphs
showing it all are somewhat addictive.

B*gg*r - I've no excuse at all now!

It just didn't float my boat. I don't think that the hi-tech gizmo would do
owt for me either. Bike are to be admired/cleaned/repaired indoors and
    ridden outdoors ;-)
My wife couldn't believe the enthusiasm that I showed last winter when I was
doing a 100km Audax every Sunday. Sadly my earlier start to the season this
year has been adversely affected by stinking cold and a chest infection.
Still, I'm two rides up for the season....
