IIRC Alan later said he couldn't come and someone, Keith Howard perhaps,
just didn't turn up and never subsequently offered any explanation for
    not doing so.

Maybe not. I was having family problems which ended with my divorce. I had
an old Proton then which is still going strong, being driven to Folky gigs
in Sheffield by my daughters. I am now to be seen driving a bright red 1967
Austin Healey Sprite (second childhood). Also have a 1934 Austin Seven
tourer which you could have sen if you'd been at Llanrwst Gale last week.

A blast from the past, but what about the walking? (Must keep on topic
    some of the time).

I wish I could say I was swanning around in my 1971 Lotus Elan but that
sadly is little more that a collection of spare parts and likely to
    remain that way indefinitely.
