Then why are men and women becoming friends at greater rates? And how do you
explain marriages between people of rare compatibility?

Is this a function of irreconcilable differences between the sexes or of the
artificial constructs society uses to constrain and control interactions
between men and women?

Your observation could be explained by an inability to recognize inate
compatibilty. And you may have a large precentage of friends who share that
quality simply because humans tend to form self supporting groups around
their flaws.
