Rather than complain about the FDA cracking down on unregulated herbal
remedies, why not just buy pharmaceutical grade ephedrine HCl (the
active ingredient in ephedra) and avoid all the hassles? Ephedrine is
cheap, easy to get, safer than ephedra, and more effective. Plus,
since it's a drug and not an herb, the FDA works *for* you by ensuring
that you're actually getting what you think you're getting, which
wasn't true for the herbals.
You can probably by ephedrine in your local supermarket, as it's a
common remedy for asthma. Look for primatine, bronk-aid, or vasopro,
but check the ingredients list first to make sure it's an
ephedrine-based pill, and not a pseudoephedrine one.
The usual cautions and caveats apply.
