After a pleasant lunch stop outside Alfriston, I joined the South Downs
Way again, up from Alfriston, and returned to the car passing over Bostal
Hill and Firle Beacon.

Great part of the South Downs, and I am sure with stunning views on a
clear day. Not so today. It was very overcast, hazy with a fresh wind and
drizzle for the last couple of hours walking. It was still a good outing,
though.

Indeed so. It's where I do much of my walking: I'm particularly fond
of the E end of the South Downs primarily because it is so open.

That's a shame. It's worth going back to that area again in better

I was surprised how good the road system from Arundel (other than a section
at Worthing) is to the east.

Planning on returning over the May bank holiday. Will be busy, but can cope
with that if the weather is good.
