Sorry Jill, I just expected a deluge of possibilities which would
overwhelm you and produce another enormous camera thread. :-)

I think it's happened!

I happened to pass a camera shop in Hyde today, and was honestly
confused by the number of tiny multi-megapixel cameras at an affordable
price, and which would literally fit in a shirt pocket.

I walked away reluctantly....
