Oh those bikes are absolute [censored] and life threatening, so you better
pack it up and send it to me for safe disposal.
Seriously, these things are not measurable. Everyone's experience is
unique. As an example of a parallel experience, I'm about to buy an
altitude measuring bike computer and the range of opinions on
www.mountainbikereview.com is widely and wildly varied. The solace I
gained from reading reviews is knowing that I'm buying something that
isn't perfect - and I'm prepared to live with that.
You have to accept on faith that the bike you are contemplating won't
fall apart in an instant, but you should also know that some smaller
components could fail, the chain could break, etc, and this will be
a factor of the overall condition of the bike and will also be
reflected in the price - just like everything else we buy second
hand.
Oh, and be circumspect about any advice offered on the internet.
