I am planning to incorporate a laptop/suit bag in the trailer and i researching ways in which to do this optimally..
Don't be too fancy: suit bags and laptop bags are widely available and people using them won't necessarily want another one. What they may well want is the ability to attach their existing items as painlessly as possible (maybe just a couple of strips of velcro!)
For a laptop bag mount, some sort of decoupling might be attractive to reduce road shock from potholes etc. Note that this is a stab in the dark, as I don't have a laptop...

Aren't designers supposed to come up with their own ideas? Isn't that what makes them designers? If you just want something sensible implemented you give the requirements to an engineer.

I agree to a point - but isn't it better for a designer to try and make something that people will find useful with non or at least fewer of the "downs" that other products have to try and get it right for as many people as possible.
What the designer thinks is a good idea may not be for others especially those with a similar product already.

Heavens forbid. One assumes a designer wants to meet a need not come up with a totally useless product nor find that he/she has duplicated an existing one. Otherwise you get totally useless things along the lines of the Warrington cycle farcility of the month.
