The place is a horror show, particurarly in the summer. You will be heading WNW from the airport but you really need a Michelin or IGN detailed map as you will have to find a lot of yellow and white (and sometimes red) routes. Once you get away from the city you will be OK though. Why don't you fly into Montpellier instead?
