  1. 1. Every junk food supplier knows to load their product with salt
    to increase sales.

    2. I caution against assuming that ion transport mechanisms in
    the intestines are the sole determiner of appetite. Some people
    convert absolutely everything they eat into fat. Increasingly,
    they are having an operation to remove 80% or so of their
    stomach. The original idea was that patients would be physically
    incapable of eating enough to make them fat, but it has been
    found that most of those patients simply don't feel hungry any
    more. Clearly, the stomach plays a significant role in
    determining appetite.

    Can't there be change in concentration of ions in intestinal ion
    mechanisms due to taking of excess salt?

    Anyway, I have quoted above, another role of NaCl/KCl in stomach. More
    NaCl/KCl may mean more stomach acid. Can it cause craving for taking
    more food?

    I doubt that in the case of Na/Glucose transport Na is the limiting factor.
    Raising the substrate doesn't always mean raising the product-
    it depends on the activity of the corresponding enzyme and, in this case on
    the level of the cosubstrate.
    Also mind that Na and K ions are regulated quite strictly because of
    osmosis- renal excretion plays a major role here.

    Whether Na and K ions are also similarily regulated in intestinal mucus
    membrane & with Na/K pump in intestines as these are regulated in blood
    or other tissues?
