I bought a quart of coconut oil to try and duplicate the recipe
for a sauce from a local dive. This wasn't the missing mystery
    ingredient.

I know it coconut oil makes for great popcorn, and I plan to make
some shallot oil for some SE asian recipes.

What else is coconut oil especially good for?

I mix it with olive oil for stovetop frying and browning, and my wife
and I like to add a spoonful of it to our hot oatmeal for breakfast.
It's also good mixed with or in place of butter on grilled/toasted
    sandwiches.

My wife uses it as a skin cream, and I've found that it clears up
athlete's foot as well as or better than the expensive OTC remedies like
Tinactin (none of which I'd recommend for frying or grilling).

Yeah - I need to get some of the unrefined stuff for the flavor

My next door neighbor sells all sorts of homeopathic medications
and coconut oil is one of them. Her's is pretty expensive
    though.

She says the same thing: There are much better natural
alternatives to the engineered stuff from the drug companies. It
    does make you wonder.

No, but we're working on it, just like everyone else.
