How are you defining endowed? There are state grammar schools.
I'm not defining it but the qualification is that it is independent of the state (the bit you snipped). State schools, er, aren't.
Teh question was what is teh difference between public and private schools. The answer 'they're both independant of teh state' is not a useful one.
I was not answering the original question at that point I was addressing your specific point about state grammar schools. I would have thought that was clear.
