(Piotr Tomaszewski) said:I went low carbing about 7 months ago and lost 8 lbs. I did not have very
much to lose. My cholesterol rose from 173 to 286, HDL stayed about same
at 61, and LDL rose from 107 to 218. My trigs went lower from 85 to
58. I am concerned for my health and am considering switching my diet. Is
there someone else who had similar problems.
It's uncommon but not unknown for some people to have their
cholesterol rise on LC. You're not in dangerous territory by any
means (and your triglyceride figure is a marked improvement and
reduces your heart attack risk) but if you find it concerning you
might be interested in investigating the work of Goldberg and O'Mara
in the "GO Diet" at http://www.go-diet.com/
Their Plan is low-carb with an eye to lowering cholesterol using
cultured milk products (like kefir or yoghurt) and high-fibre
vegetables high in antioxidants.
It might be a useful tool for you, if you want to remain LC.
