  1. Aluminum is inherently more brittle than steel or titanium but no where near
    as fragile as carbon. Periodic inspection of welds, especially at the bottom
    bracket, are well advised. Similar to making sure your brakes work, tires
    inflated and QR's tight. Cannondales are well made and well warranted.
    You'll can get years enjoyment from a quality aluminum bike. I would be more
    concerned with the longevity and fragility of carbon frame members on the
    high end models before I worried about the aluminum.
