  1. Hello Dr. Harris..

I was recently informed that calcium basically negates the benefits of
Synthroid... when taken within a short time of each other... Since I
take Synthroid in the morning (on an empty stomach) for an inactive
thyroid... What can I eat for breakfast? and since I enjoy toast or
muffins or a waffle... do you know of somewhere I can buy
    "Calcium-Free" breads?

    Thanks,
    Annette

  2. calcium can complex with synthroid, so some of the synthroid is not
adsorbed. It doesn't negate the effect.

As I understand it, one hour should be sufficient for synthroid to be
    adsorbed.

I take my synthroid as soon as I get up, first thing.

BTW, other foods can also interfere w adsorption.

    j.

If you do everything the same way each time, then the dose can be
adjusted to correct for any loss.
