    Hi,

Could anybody please provide your opinion/advice/comments?

I(wife and mother) had minor heart attack 1 week ago (59, non-smoker,
retired but keepin busy herself). Had previous MI 5 years ago and had
PTCA+Stents in Left AD, and Right CA; was on all standard medications.

In Angiogram today, 3 main arteries are blocked (100%/RCA, LAD/70%) and
M1, Circum., Diagonal around 80-90%), and was told angioplasty could
not be done??. They recommended Bypass Surgery
asap. I was told the other risk factors from some previous/current heart
    damage is there?

Do I have any other option (non-invasive), like keep on going like this
on medication without exertion will be less risky...., compared to
surgery? As I am scared of surgery and its risks.

    Ask your cardiologist about ECP:

    External CounterPulsation.

Would I be on high risk if i do not go for bypass....compared to chance
of successful bypass and living _more_ and risk free after bypass, or
any complications during/after bypass or re-occur of CAD?

That depends on how well your doctors are able to help you control your risk
factors for progression of your CAD.

Your LDL should be less than 100 mg/dl and your HDL should be as high as
possible. You should be walking every day. Your blood pressure should be
perfect (115/70 or less). You should be at ideal body weight (BMI about 20).

    God Bless,

    Andrew

Thanks for your opinions..I have just 2 other important things to
    mention that:

    1. During Angiography, the pulse was highly fluctuating...,did it go in
    a low/risk zone...
What that means...? If the pulse was not stable during angiography...how
would it behave during complex Bypass...Right now my pulse is 58

    2. They said heart has some previous damage...& it's risk factor, in
    addition to other risks....

Under these conditions....would you still favour surgery _compared_ to
other option (not sure we have any)
    -------------
I was wondering if they would just do single bypass and try to use
angioplasty to other arteries which are less than 90% blockages.

    my LDL is still high...

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards....

I have had bypass twice. 1989 and 1998. Both times were with a damaged
heart. Both times my quality of life was so much better I would highly
recommend it. After bypass there is no limit to activity that I have
found. One of the bypasses I have now has closed and it is being treated
with medication but I have some limitations now. It is the pits. If I could
have it a third time I would. The cardiologist said he would not recommend
it a third time for me. I am seeking alternatives now and all is not
    hopeless. Listen to your doctor.
