  1. Florian IS a great guy. I really enjoyed riding with him in Laos. I'm
very sad to hear of his brother.

    Hi everyone,
First off, Florian Schlumpf is my hero! He is a great guy. He knows how
important the race is to me, so he's going to send me a fixed up hub
today! I should get it by monday, which means I should be able to have
my wheel back together by the middle of next week!!

Florian had been pretty busy lately; his brother recently died from a
motorcycle crash, and he has been busy managing two businesses because
of that. I told him to not worry about me, and that his family matters
    should take the highest priority.

He thinks the hub may have failed in the same way that Chuck's failed.
I'm mailing it back to him today, so I'll let everyone know once I find
    out the details.

I've really missed the hub for the past few days. I rode ungeared for
16 miles last night, and my left leg has a strange soreness that
happens from spinning to fast. I really don't enjoy riding ungeared
anymore, and it seems like I'm spinning madingly fast to maintain 18mph
downhill. On flats, I can barely maintain 15mph -- and that's only if
I'm really pushing hard. My spinning speed has definitely slowed down
since I started riding geared up.

I've said it before, and I'll said it again. I've seen the future of
    unicycling, and it is geared.
