I wish that simply ignoring the existence of these trojans was an
effective way to deal with them, but in this world of Endless
September[1], it seems that every new round of postings of such
newbietraps has a ready audience. If the trojans weren't being
actively promoted and exploited by the spammers and DDoS abusers,
their damage could be ignored since the infested users would likely be
the only victims, but when those trojans are used to fill inboxes full
of [censored] and attack search engines and other major essential services,
then it becomes difficult to be a virtual stereotypical ostrich.

[1] Before AOL went into operation, every September was marked by a
flood of new college-account users with no clue. When AOL came into
the picture, it became like an endless September; the newusers were
plentiful all the time...and so were the newbie mistakes.
