The "official" cycle crossing via the island just isn't big enough for all the bikes. Last night there was an ambulance on a blue light run at that junction, which most of the cyclists waited for. After it had passed it was too late to do the normal dash straight across to the park between phases so some of us decided to go the "official" two hop route via the island. A nasty crush ensued because the island can only hold maybe 10 cyclists and there were more than that needing to get on it or be stuck in the path of oncoming traffic when the lights changed.

that island and the ridiculous delays to bikes caused by traffic light phasing is a joke; perhaps now the cars are also having to wait something will be done about it.
Noticing a lot more bikes on the train as well and generally more understanding from other users.
