I am exactly who I think I am. Having thought more about what you've
done, I'd have grabbed you and held you until the police arrived, had I
been the driver. For using the 'phone, I'd probably have got away with
a bollocking form the copper. At worst it would have been a small fine
and possibly some points. You, OTOH, could have ended up with a charge
of criminal damage against you.

During my daily commute of 25 miles I regularly push my way in. That's
how it is in Cheltenham. I'll give 6 or 7 cars the benefit of the doubt
and if none of those rude Cheltenham Averages doesn't give, that's the
go ahead to get rude.

Regardless of whether what you perceive as a stereotypical BMW driver
was in the wrong, you have now made yourself just as bad as he, and have
perhaps made cycling in your area just a bit more unpleasant for
responsible, decent people. Unless your story is one of fantasy and
you're just here for effect, that is.

Possible, but unlikely unless you could produce a witness to say he
appeared to roll deliberately into you. You're on the phone and you're
positioned across the line of traffic. Another vehicle that has right
of way has hit you after you pulled in front of it and you think the
police are going to take your side?

Remember the CCTV video camera the OP used to try to avoid being hit?
That could prove detrimental to the cyclist's case.

If the "right of way" vehicle (the bike, in this case) has reasonable
room to stop, then yes, the police would take the side of the car
driver, and rightly so.
